History of Collegeville

The Borough of Collegeville is located in Montgomery County Pennsylvania and has a population of 4,682. During nine months of the year, Ursinus College adds 1,000 residents to the Borough.

The name Collegeville was chosen as a compromise for the residents of Freeland and Perkiomen Bridge when the railroad came through the Lower Perkiomen Valley and needed a name for the local station. The choice of Collegeville was to honor the Pennsylvania Female College.
